Case Description
This 35 year old mother of 3 had heavy breasts (36DD bra) that pointed downwards, so she came to Minneapolis Plastic Surgery requesting moderate breast reduction to a B-C cup, and raising of her nipples. (Her breast size did not qualify for insurance reimbursement.) She underwent a Wise-pattern (anchor) “cosmetic” breast reduction and lift, but without detaching her nipple areola complexes, thereby preserving sensation. Her outpatient operation was performed in our on-site surgical facility under a light general (TIVA) anesthetic that allowed rapid, comfortable wake-up with no nausea or vomiting. At 3 months post-op her scars were hypertrophic (genetic tendency to overgrow scars), but they responded to silicone scar pad therapy and faded over the subsequent 12-15 months.
