Transgender (F-M) Mastectomy ("Top Surgery") - Case 6

This 24 year-old patient has lived as a male for several years, has been on testosterone therapy for over 8 months, and has come to Minneapolis Plastic Surgery for top surgery (transgender total mastectomies with skin reduction, nipple reduction, and nipple areola reconstruction as full-thickness skin grafts). This 3 ½ to 4 hour operation was performed in our QUAD A-accredited office surgical facility under a light general (TIVA) anesthetic as an outpatient procedure. Mastectomy site drains are in place for 7-10 days, and the nipple/areola grafts must be kept protected and dry for 3-4 weeks. Scars will fade over 6-12 months.
